To share how narra wood are being prepared for furniture, I’ve taken a video of my friend while he is doing his preparation.
Carpenters believe that manual wood cleaning produces much smoother texture, so after automatic plaining they still do the manual procedure as final touches.

Have you ever wonder how Narra Wood are being prepared, processed and turned into one beautiful Narra Furniture?
OK let me start from Narra tree. In the forest they cut trees and make it like a log then bring send it to the saw mill or workshop to slide it and make boards, board will now be carefully selected by carpenters for their projects.
Above image shows how my friend carpenter clean the selected board and making ready for his automatic plainer. He is using a steel brash to make sure that the board is free of sand, mud or anything that can damage the plainer blade.
Then the cleaning starts.
Look at different stroke, it is necessary because of the hardness of the wood is main consideration on cleaning.
Using manual plainer is necessary if the needs to smother or finer.
Look how smooth the board is while it passed to the manual plainer.

We are a young couple and I’d say starting a small family is both exciting and draining. There is no single moment in my head that I don’t think on how I would be able to secure my family’s future especially of our three year old daughter. Her needs even her whims are always first on my priorities. And so, vibrant as I am I have been picturing in my mind the environment I want her to grow up; the dream house I want her to fill with her laughter even the furniture she would rest her little body. Call me sentimental, but hey it’s just me. And so hubby and I have been doing some sketches of her own narra bed. I want it to be a resemblance of our matrimonial bed with her own name carvings on the headboard. Soon when she grows up I am sure she would have great reminiscing of her young days with her bed.
We are also doing some sketches for her own narra study table. I know, I know she’s just three but time flies so fast so might as well be prepared. I want it to compliment her antique-style room. Have I mentioned that she had a crib made of narra and I am sure if my mom could create a walker made of narra, she would definitely ask her carpenter to make one for her first grand child. Can you beat that?! That’s too heavy and would cripple instead of teach my daughter how to walk. She also has her own small chair made of narra and her dresser is definitely to die for. It’s an antique black narra with a lot of flower and butterfly carvings carefully done.

Its been a hectic schedule for summer for me and my family. A lot of our relatives are spending time in Quezon and so we decided to join the band wagon and take this opportunity to spend time with them.
The road leading to Quezon is indeed splendid and breath taking. Nature’s hands paved way to the magnificent mountains and very scenic view of Mountain. Along the side of the road are stores of narra furniture exemplifying the indigenous craftsmanship of Quezon people. You would definitely fall in love with Quezon-the view, the food and its one of a kind arts-the NARRA FURNITURES.
Alas! After hours of travel from mountain and seas we have reached the famous Polillo, Quezon. My mother in law’s house is a museum in its self showcasing different furniture that extends ages. She has wide arrays of antiques. One sofa set is said to be more than fifty years. Their matrimonial bed is indeed exquisite as well with carvings if their names.
